Our Story

The Pixel Archive began in 2010 as a personal passion project to preserve the artifacts of gaming's early decades. What started as one collector's fascination with vintage consoles has evolved into a comprehensive preservation initiative dedicated to documenting and maintaining the hardware, software, and cultural artifacts that defined interactive entertainment's first fifty years.

We believe that video games represent a unique intersection of art, technology, and cultural history. Unlike other media, games require functioning hardware to be experienced as intended. Our mission extends beyond mere collection—we actively restore, document, and contextualize each artifact to ensure future generations can understand how gaming shaped modern digital culture.
